Building community one event at a time.
Journey House Events
Established in 1969, Journey House is grounded in the philosophy that Education is a Family Journey. We embody this belief through our mission of working with the community utilizing a self-help philosophy in order to increase education, reduce unemployment and crime, strengthen families, and revitalize neighborhoods.
Journey House begins with the conviction that everyone has (a) the right to a high quality of life and (b) the basic assets for attaining it. At the same time, members of urban Milwaukee communities face challenges to their quality of life, and must therefore develop specific academic, employment, and life skills in order to become full participants in the benefits and responsibilities of civic society. For this reason, Journey House exists as a community-based opportunity oasis where men, women, and children on Milwaukee’s diverse Near South Side can build these vital skills and reach their goals.
