What is Cinco de Mayo?
Cinco de Mayo is referenced and featured as an increasingly global celebration of Mexican culture, cuisine, and heritage.
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16.
Cinco de Mayo is an annual popular celebration held on May 5, commemorating the famed battle of Puebla in 1862 when the outnumbered and poorly equipped Mexican Army defeated the more powerful and better-armed French Army.
The victory of a smaller Mexican force against the superior French Army was a morale boost for Mexico. A battle cry that rallied the country to fight against tyranny.
Cinco de Mayo celebrates the triumph of the human spirit and what people united can do!
Cinco de Mayo teaches us that despite overwhelming odds, together, we can overcome.
Join us as we celebrate the human spirit with traditional Mexican foods, music, dance, and more!
