Midwest mujeres pudimos invitar Adriana Latitano quien es una mujer tremenda haciendo cosas para las mujeres inmigrantes.

Cuando yo pienso del trabajo que hizo mi abuela viniendo aquí, Madison en 1970’s ella tuvo que reventarse porque porque ella vino de una historia muy mala, acá en México era una madre soltera, no tenía mucho provecho en esos días. La única cosa que tuvo era que un permiso para llegar acá. Yo sé cómo es tan difícil para las mujeres que apenas vienen y no tienen papeles o son indocumentadas .

Y he visto estas mujeres, quien en la sociedad dicen que no tienen valor hacer negocios grandes, comprarse trocas grandotas, tener casas bellas, y dan su comunidad y son mujeres muy amorosas y abundantes!

Yo siento que Adriana es una de esas mujeres que te van a dar esa reflexión, ese momento para que tú puedas impulsarte hacer un poco más o probar algo nuevo y seguir tu sueño.

TALLER DE TÉCNICAS MIXTAS/ COLLAGE Y ACRÍLICO

En este taller de 1 sesión exploraremos las técnicas mixtas de collage y acrílico, las cuales están muy presentes en el trabajo artístico de la Maestra Angelica Contreras. Para crear nuestra propia obra, los participantes trabajaran el concepto de identidad y como este se compone de capas. Combinaremos pintura, imágenes en papel, fragmentos y diversos materiales para darle significado a nuestra obra. Este taller está enfocado en participantes de 9 años en adelante.

El taller se llevara a cabo en el estudio de Inventiva Works ubicado en 6708 C Odana Rd., Madison, el 21 de Abril de la 1 pm a las 3pm. Todos los materiales están incluidos en el costo del taller.


PORTRAYING OUR IDENTITY

MIXED MEDIA/ COLLAGE & ACRYLIC WORKSHOP

In this 1-session workshop we will explore the mixed media techniques of collage and acrylic, which are very present in the artistic work of Maestra Angelica Contreras. To create our own work, participants will work on the concept of identity and how it is made up of layers. We will combine paint, images on paper, fragments and various materials to give meaning to our work. This workshop is for participants ages 9 and up. The workshop will be held at the Inventiva Works studio located at 6708 C Odana Rd., Madison, on April 21 from 1 pm to 3 pm. All materials are included in the cost of the workshop.

About Xochitl:
Xochitl Gonzalez is author of Olga Dies Dreaming, a New York Times, Washington Post, and NPR Best Book of 2022 and winner of the Brooklyn Public Library Book Prize in Fiction. Gonzalez is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her commentary writing for The Atlantic was recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

About Natalie:
Natalie Caña is an author born and raised in Milwaukee! Natalie Caña loves to incorporate her you’ll-never-believe-what-just-happened-to-me personal experiences, enthusiasm for telenovela tomfoolery, and love for her Latinx culture into creating funny, heartfelt, and just a little bit over-the-top contemporary romances for characters who look and sound like her. A Proposal They Can’t Refuse is her debut novel. Her newest book “Sleeping With The Frenemy” will be released later this year.
